August 18, 2016 08:03 am | Updated 08:03 am IST - HYDERABAD:

CPI(M) legislator Sunnam Rajaiah, in a statement on Wednesday, severely condemned the alleged kidnap by Maoists, of five Adivasi villagers from Pega village of Chintoor mandal, which was merged with Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation.

The villagers, Kangala Muttaiah, Sode Dulaiah, Kangala Nagaiah, Kanithi Ramaiah and Kangala Satyam, were working in their field when they were kidnapped on the pretext of being police informers, Mr. Rajaiah alleged.

All the five were taken to Chhattisgarh, and reportedly tied to trees, Mr. Rajaiah said, claiming that they were taken away on the basis of wrong information. Family members of all the five were under fear, as there was threat to their lives. The issue has already been brought to the notice of Civil Liberties Committee leaders and Virasam founder-member Vara Vara Rao, he said.
