Adilabad municipality gets Rs. 75 crore budget

January 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 23, 2016 04:09 am IST - ADILABAD:

Adilabad Municipal Council on Saturday passed a budget for Rs. 75 crore for the year 2016-17 amid pandemonium created by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi councillors at the special Budget meeting. The budget will be put to use mainly for improvement of civic amenities in the town, chairperson R. Manish told the meeting.

No sooner officials of the Municipality started reading out the budget, TRS floor leader Bandari Satish hindered it by raising questions relating to corrupt practices in the municipality. He accused Ms. Manish of land grabbing and misuse of municipal funds. He was joined by four other ruling party councillors in the shouting match with those from the camp of the chairperson. Tearing the budget papers, Mr. Satish pointed out the manner in which the agenda was being passed since the last few general body meetings. He said there was no discussion being held even for important items listed on the agenda.
