To promote tourism, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad and Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy along with other police officials and villagers trekked the forests to visit a picturesque waterfall on the outskirts of Raikal village in Saidapur mandal on Sunday.
Located about 42 km from Karimnagar district headquarters, a trek of about two-and-a-half hours would take one to the waterfall amid hillocksabout three km from the Raikal village. Only villagers and other locals know of the picturesque waterfall which is yet to become popular.
On their way, the Collector and the Commissioner inspected a police station set up by the Nizam rulers at the village. Mr. Reddy said they trekked to the waterfall only to popularise it. Stating that they would soon open a police outpost at the village by securing government permission, he said they would introduce “blue colts” patrolling to provide security to the visitors and check illegal activities.
The Collector said he would soon convene a meeting with the forest and tourism officials to lay a road from the village to the waterfall and to provide other facilities at the tourist spot.
Huzurabad ACP M. Ravinder Reddy, Inspectors Ravinder Reddy, Ramana Reddy, Mahesh Goud, Vijay Kumar, and other police personnel, District Tourism Officer A. Venkateshwara Rao and others were also present.
