The pace of works on 2BHK housing and ground plus houses in the district is very slow, observed housing department principal secretary Chitra Ramachandran.

She instructed the Collectors of the five districts here to visit the construction site once in 15 days to ensure completion of housing by March end. She expressed unhappiness over the slow progress of construction.

A total of 2,689 houses were sanctioned in Warangal urban, 1,780 houses in Warangal rural, 3,172 houses in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, 1,381 houses in Mahbubabad and 1,141 houses in Jangaon districts. In Warangal urban district, out of the 2,686 sanctioned houses 1,984 houses completed tender and agreement process while 592 houses in Ambedkar Nagar and 792 houses in SR Nagar are yet to be taken up.

Officials attribute the delay to delay in selection of beneficiaries, contractors and lack of coordination among engineering department officials.
