MMD to irrigate one lakh acres in Sircilla Assembly segment

Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has said that the administration would provide irrigation facilities to one lakh acres in Sircilla Assembly segment by lifting water from the Mid-Manair Dam (MMD) project to Upper Manair Dam and fill all the minor irrigation sources en route.

Participating in various developmental programmes in Yellareddypet and Gambhiraopet mandals on Monday, the Minister called upon people to participate in the development of Sircilla district on all fronts and make it a model one in the State.

Appreciating the district authorities for making Sircilla district the first open defecation free (ODF) district in the State, the Minister urged people to use the individual sanitary latrines (ISL) constructed as part of ODF for cleanliness and sanitation.

Listing out various welfare schemes launched by the State Government, he said that the government is providing honorarium of ₹1,000 per month to four lakh beedi workers.

He said that the government would provide monthly pension of ₹1,000 to lonely women in the State from April 1.

He also said that the State Government is also planning to distribute sheep to people belonging to Yadav community. The Minister laid foundation stone for the laying of CC roads at a cost of ₹65 lakh in Nagampet village, compound wall to ZPHS at a cost of ₹18 lakhs, and inaugurated electric sub-station.

He also appreciated the villagers for requesting sanction of a community hall for all the communities in the village.

The Minister also inaugurated Tahsildar Office and Sthree Shakthi Bhavan and laid foundation stone for laying of CC roads in Gambhiraopet mandal.

Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar, CESS chairman Laxma Reddy, RDO Shyamprasad Lal and others were also present.
