The State government has sanctioned 522 residential schools and colleges to provide quality education to all weaker sections and more would come up in next few years, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said.

Inaugurating the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential College here on Friday he said that as many as 22 degree colleges were opened for tribal boys and girls.

He said that a Degree College for ST Girls had been sanctioned by the government for Nizamabad and Boys college was sanctioned for Kamareddy. The college will begin functioning with eight groups and 320 students in first year.

At present the college was opened on temporary premises and new buildings would be built on five acre land with an estimated cost of ₹20 crore shortly, the Minister said, adding that the district Collector was already on the job of identifying the land.

The Agriculture Minister asked the students to avail themselves of the facilities available at the college and do hard work to shape their future.

Zilla Praja Parishad Chairman D. Raju, Member of Parliament B.B. Patil, Government Whip Gampa Govardhan, E. Ravinder Reddy, MLA Yellareddy, Hanmanth Shinde, MLA Jukkal and Collector N. Satyanarayana were present on the occasion.
