Tejpal’s daughter questioned

The Goa police questioned the daughter of arrested Tehelka founder-editor Tarun Tejpal on Thursday in connection with the case relating to his alleged sexual assault on a woman colleague.

Crime Branch officials said M.s. Tiya was questioned for over two hours at their office at Dona Paula near here. Ms. Tiya has been quoted by the victim in the email she sent to the magazine’s former managing-editor Shoma Chaudhury. The victim reportedly informed her about the incident involving her father.

Crime Branch officials said Ms. Tiya was called to corroborate some facts mentioned by the victim and also by Mr. Tejpal during his interrogation.

Fast track court In New Delhi, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Mr. Tejpal would be tried in a fast track court. “We will follow the Supreme Court’s guidelines and have a woman judge,” he said.
