Tejas makes successful flight, to be inducted into IAF soon

The fifth limited series production Tejas Light Combat Aircraft successfully completed its first flight near Bangalore on Friday.

V.K. Saraswat, Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister, made an announcement about the successful flight at the ongoing aviation conclave here. He said the multirole fighter would be inducted into the Air Force early next year. Dr. Saraswat, who is also the Director-General of Defence Research and Development Organisation, told reports the aircraft flew for about an hour, went up to an altitude of 8 km and achieved a speed of Mach 0.8. It was equipped with state-of-the-art of technologies, including fly-by-wire systems and communication.
