Kadayanallur police have arrested a youth for allegedly beating his father to death.
Police said C. Malaiyandi (65) of Puthukkudi under Kadayanallur police station limits used to pick up quarrel with his son Kumar (31) under the influence of alcohol. When Malaiyandi started creating problem on Thursday night in an inebriated condition, Kumar allegedly attacked his father with a log in which the old man swooned.
Thinking that Malaiyandi could not get up as he was drunk, Kumar left the old man outside his house and went to sleep. As he did not recover even on Friday morning, Kumar lifted his father only to know that he was dead. Based on the complaint from Malaiyandi’s daughter Chandra, the Kadayanallur police arrested Kumar on Friday.
