Woman with H1N1 symptoms admitted to Salem GH

A 67-year-old woman of Thammampatti was admitted to the isolation ward of Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital here on Sunday with symptoms of H1N1.

Dean N. Mohan told The Hindu that Palaniyammal was suffering from multiple myeloma (bone cancer) and was undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore. She had wheezing problem and other multiple complications due to cancer. She was admitted to a private hospital in the city for cough and was referred to the GH on Sunday. Since she was found to be a high risk patient, she was admitted to the isolation ward. The doctor said that samples were sent for laboratory test.

Yusuf, a chronic smoker and a severe diabetic with chronic obstructive pulmonary (COD) from Hosur was also undergoing treatment in the ward from Saturday. His condition is said to be stable.
