Police constable A. Gayathri (30), who died under suspicious circumstances on All Woman Police Station premises at Dharapuram on Friday late night, where she worked, is yet to be cremated. Her husband C. Arumugam (31), who is a sanitary worker with Kanapadi panchayat in Dindigul district, is all determined to see the truth behind the death.

“I am planning to keep the body preserved till inquiries by Central Bureau of Investigation are held,” Mr. Arumugam told The Hindu .

He said that representations had been sent to Human Rights Commission, Chief Minister and Director General of Police highlighting the mental tortures and scolding Gayathri suffered at the hands of a woman Deputy Superintendent of Police in Dharapuram.

“I had requested the government to hold a CBI inquiry as the senior police officials in Tirupur have been trying to save the DSP from the case. Even as I have come out with open statements that the DSP has made my wife buy vegetables and clean toilets, no police official in Tirupur district came to record my version,” he alleged.

Mr. Arumugam alleged that the death of his wife was not informed to him for many hours which make the suspicion grew.

According to him, no police official has so far contacted him after the body was taken to Kanapadi. Meanwhile, police officials have been remaining tight-lipped to the media on the case.
