He will participate in a meeting to pay homage to ‘Auditor’ V. Ramesh
With senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani confirming his participation in a meeting on August 1 to pay homage to BJP’s State general secretary ‘Auditor’ V. Ramesh who was murdered about 10 days ago, police have intensified vigil in the city and on the outskirts.
Police personnel who were guarding closely important locations, including bus stands, railway stations, places of worship and tourists spots such as Yercaud, enhanced vehicle-check and night patrolling. Lodge-owners have been advised to inform police about visitors.
Surveillance cameras have been installed at many places across the city. More than 600 policemen have been posted for duty across the city.
Police have also intensified vehicle check on the State border with Karnataka at the Palar Bridge.
On Sunday, a team of BJP leaders visited the Jawahar Grounds here where Mr. Advani would address a meeting on Thursday. After attending the meeting, Mr. Advani would leave for Coimbatore before returning to New Delhi.
