A wave in favour of the AIADMK front is sweeping the State and the DMK cannot escape the anger and disgust of people, said CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan. Talking to press persons here on Monday, he said the DMK had failed miserably on all fronts. Acute power shortage, stagnation of industries in Coimbatore, paralysing effect on hosiery units in Tirupur and hike in prices of essential commodities and prices of cotton and yarn hit all sections of people. Growth was not only stagnant but also deteriorating.
Agriculture in the State faced stagnation year after year. On the other hand, futures and online trading business shot up to Rs.12.18 lakh crore in 2009-10 from Rs.6.27 lakh crore in 2008-09.
Agriculturists, weavers, spinners and small industrialists were the worst affected. Corruption, rude behaviour of partymen and misuse of official machinery by the DMK haunted the State, he said.
He charged that the DMK men had been distributing cash to voters despite strict vigilance of the Election Commission. The EC should be more vigilant and take all efforts to conduct free and fair election, he added.
