India will shine and Tamil Nadu will glitter if the voters elect all the 40 candidates of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the Lok Sabha elections so as to enable the party to form part of the Central government.
If it happens, a strong government will emerge at the Centre to make India a super power, said Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, during her electioneering here in support of the party candidate K.Kamaraj for the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha seat on Sunday.
The Chief Minister urged voters to ensure the Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidates forfeited their deposit.
Their votes were not only meant for a regime change but also for changing the fate of the country. A pre-Independence mindset of getting freedom from the British rule was prevailing now to get rid of the anti-people and scam ridden Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre.
Pitching for more powers for the State, Ms. Jayalalithaa said the Centre had not only encroached upon the rights of the State but had also imposed heavy financial burden and curtailed its means of revenue generation.
By empowering oil marketing companies to determine the prices of petroleum products, the Centre had paved the way for spiralling inflation and the burden on this score was passed on to the people.
By not allocating adequate electricity from the Central grid and cutting down the kerosene quota the Centre had acted against the interests of Tamil Nadu. Though the State Assembly had passed resolutions on finding a lasting solution to the Sri Lankan Tamils issue and that of the Tamil Nadu fishermen, retrieval of the Kachchativu, hauling up the Mahinda Rajapaksa government before the United Nations for racial annihilation and war crimes, the Centre had not done any thing in this regard. Nor did the DMK urge the Centre to resolve the issues such as river-water sharing. The people would not give any credence to the claim of M.Karunanidhi that his party was striving for the people’s welfare.
She underscored the point that it was the rights of the citizens to exercise their franchise. Since it would bring about the much-needed change at the Centre they should not fritter away their votes.
