Students can excel in sports activities only when they can give due attention to the game they have chosen and playing it with passion, Grand Master Viswanathan Anand has said.

Addressing students at Pushpalata Schools here on Saturday on its 30th Founder’s Day, Mr. Anand attributed his success in chess to the concentration and due attention he had paid to the game even when he was a school student. “Since I played the game of chess with passion, I could achieve in chess even at international level. Students, especially budding sportspersons, can make their presence in their games felt only when they give due attention to the game,” Mr. Anand said. He played chess with five students and defeated them on the occasion.
