The health and revenue officials continue to have a vigil in the rural areas where reports of people getting affected by viral fever are pouring in. Apart from the health officials, revenue officials too have been visiting villages in all the 20 blocks to take stock of the situation. They have been making door-to-door survey and destroy the mosquito breeding sources such as outdated tyres, coconut shells and plastic materials.
They also chlorinated the drinking water tanks and undertook fogging operations.
Meanwhile, a team of health department staff participated in a mega anti-larva operation in Thevur block.
Understanding the seriousness of the problem, the official machinery has procured more fogging equipment. The equipment, which arrived from other districts, were immediately rushed to the blocks where the problem is said to be a matter of concern.
“We have been having a close watch of the situation across the district. All effective precautionary measures have been taken to check the spreading of water-borne and vector-borne diseases,” a senior official of the health department said.
The department had accorded priority for holding discussion with the locals to explain do’s and dont’s when they came across people affected by viral fever, the official added.
