Villagers demand arrest of miscreants

April 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - NAMAKKAL:

Demanding the arrest of persons who created trouble in inebriated condition during temple festival in Jedarpalayam in Tiruchengode, villagers picketed the Revenue Divisional Office here on Saturday.

The villagers of Chinna Kinathu Palayam said that the temple festival was being held in the village for the past three days. Three persons, Ramasamy, Moorthy and Neelamegam, in inebriated condition created trouble during the festival. The villagers warned them and let them go. But the three chased the persons who warned them and attempted to murder them, they said.

The Jedarpalayam police picked up three persons from the village. However, the police warned them and let them free. Condemning the police inaction, the villagers picketed the RDO in Tiruchengode. They alleged that the police attempted to register case against the villagers instead of taking action against the three. Later, the police pacified them.
