Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijayakant on Sunday said he would reveal the party's stand on alliance for Lok Sabha polls at the state conference in Ulundurpet on February 2.
Seeking to quell speculations on his alliance moves, he wondered what would the media do if he chose to go it alone at the hustings.
"I have a different route in my mind," he said while addressing the executive and general council meeting of the party here.
He said he aligned with the AIADMK in the 2011 Assembly elections since former Union Minister and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi's son M.K. Alagiri made some disparaging remarks against him on a television channel.
The general council meeting convened to thrash out the alliance question authorised Mr Vijayakant to take a final decision.
"Though the party has contested many elections in the past, all sections of the society are keenly watching the stand to be taken by it in the Lok Sabha polls. The meeting authorished Mr Vijayakant to take a stand in the interest of people of Tamil Nadu, especially the poor and the middle class," a resolution adopted in the meeting said.
The meeting also decided to form committee to hold talks with other political parties for an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls. The committee members are the party's whip V.C. Chandrakumar, party MLA Anaiyur Mohanraj, youth wing leader L.K.Sudheesh and senior leader Jahir, Yuvaraj and Umanath,
Another resolution resolved to organise the state conference of the party in Villupuram to showcase the strength of the party to other political outfits.
"The conference should draw the attention of the country," Mr Vijayakant said, while announcing a separate committee for holding the conferene.
Coming down heavily on the AIADMK government for its failure to set right the deterorating law and order, a resolution said the police had become a puppet in the hands of the ruling party.
Yet another resolution wanted Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to take steps in war footing to overcome the power crisis in the state.
The meeting also condemned elite liquors shops opened by the state government in commerical complexes and malls. "Liquor shops destroy the lives of youth and created uncertainty in the lives of women," it said.
