Students of Vidya Vikas Matric HSS, Gandarvakottai, bagged the top three ranks in the district in the Plus Two examinations.
K.S. Janani came first scoring 1,185 marks while K. Subbiah and B. Ramya secured 1,184 and 1,182 marks respectively.
The district recorded an overall pass percentage of 89.76 this year — a three percentage point increase over the previous year. As many as 17,733 students appeared for the exam of which 15,918 of them passed successfully.
The pass percentage of students of government schools alone was 87.12 while it was 95.02 in the case of government-aided schools. In respect of self-financing and matriculation schools, the overall pass percentage was 98.13, Educational Department officials said. Twenty-two schools, including five run by the government, achieved 100 p.c. pass result.
The pass percentage of the lone Government Adi Dravidar HSS at Mullankurichi near Alangudi was 78.53.
