TMC president G.K. Vasan on Tuesday sought a CBI inquiry into the death of five labourers in Tamil Nadu whose bodies were found floating in a tank near Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
“No justice was done to the families of 20 labourers who were killed in Andhra Pradesh in 2015. The Tamil Nadu government should have taken steps at least after that to ensure the safety of our labourers going to other States for work,” Mr. Vasan said in a statement.
The Tamil Nadu government should have identified such labourers going to work in nearby States, found out who were recruiting them and provided the workers security.
“ The Tamil Nadu government should also take steps to secure the release of labourers lodged in Andhra prisons for many years,” Mr. Vasan said
