Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) leader G.K. Vasan on Friday came down heavily on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his stiff opposition to the constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Board.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Mr. Vasan accused Karnataka of betraying the farmers of Tamil Nadu.

The TMC leader demanded that the Centre intervene and render justice. “The Centre should condemn the Karnataka government for not adhereing to the Supreme Court’s orders. The Centre should also bring pressure to bear on the Karnataka government and ensure that Tamil Nadu gets its share of water,” he said.

Mr. Vasan urged the State government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the latest developments in the Cauvery water sharing row. The State government should not compromise on the issues concerning the rights of the State, he said.

Welcoming actor Kamal Haasan’s stand on corruption, he said, “The views expressed by actors such as Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, who have remained popular for many decades, should be taken in the right spirit.”
