Tamil Nadu will witness an unprecedented result in the Lok Sabha election, paving the way for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to emerge as a major political force, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko said on Tuesday.
“The MDMK has entered into an electoral pact with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The support for BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is growing by the day in Tamil Nadu. This election will be the breaking point where the people will vote for an alternative to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK),” he said.
Mr. Vaiko said the MDMK would ensure that the United Progressive Alliance, led by the Congress, was thrown out of power.
“We will see to it that neither the Congress nor any alliance that has the support of the Congress will form the government at the Centre,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the NDA, led by Mr. Modi, would follow the policy adopted by Atal Behari Vajpayee on the Sri Lankan issue.
On the BJP's attempt to rope in Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and the Desiya Murpoku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK), Mr. Vaiko said he would only be happy if those parties joined the NDA.
