Useless sans control over check dams: PMK

Bhakra-Beas board can be a model, says Anbumani

PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday said that the Supreme Court’s verdict is of no use if the check dams are under the control of Karnataka.

In a statement, he said that Supreme Court’s directive to the Centre that the Cauvery Management Board be immediately instituted would not be of any use to Tamil Nadu.

“The board which doesn’t have powers to control the check dams that have been constructed across Cauvery river will not be useful,” said Mr. Anbumani.

He said that despite this, the Tamil Nadu government had welcomed the draft scheme. “We cannot expect anything more than this from the Tamil Nadu government,” said Mr. Anbumani.

He further said that the Bhakra-Beas Management Board had control of the check dams that had been constructed across the river. “Tamil Nadu will get justice only if such a management board is set up for Cauvery as well,” said Mr. Anbumani.
