Two persons including a history-sheeter were murdered in separate incidents in the district on Tuesday.

Police said R. Balan (35), an alcoholic from Ambasasmudram, was facing several cases and had been enlarged on bail in the case pertaining to the attempt to murder his wife recently. Moreover, he had also earned the enmity of his elder brother R. Gopal, his neighbour.

When Balan asked Gopal to give money on Tuesday, the latter refused. Agitated over this Balan tried to attack Gopal. However, Gopal allegedly attacked Balan with a sickle in which he died on the spot.

The Ambasamudram police are on the lookout for Gopal.

In another incident, N. Mariappan (42), a farmer from Chokkatanthoppu near Suthamalli was found murdered in his farm on Tuesday morning. During investigation, police found that Mariappan, who went to the farm on Monday evening, did not return home in the night.

Since the deceased had a property dispute with a person from the same area, it is suspected that the enmity might have led to the killing.

Suthamalli police are investigating.
