Two bus drivers were crushed to death and over 16 passengers injured in a collision involving a volvo bus and a container truck near Gundalpatti in the wee hours of Sunday.

The Tiruchi-bound volvo bus from Bangalore had left the city at 10 p.m. on Saturday night and was crossing Dharmapuri, when a container truck moving ahead took a sudden turn to a diesel bunk nearby.
According to the police, the volvo bus driver lost control by the unexpected turn and crashed into the truck.
The front of the bus was severely damaged. The drivers Ramakrishna Achari(51) and Lakshmi Narayanan (45), both hailing from Bangalore, were crushed to death.
40 passengers
Of the total 40 passengers in the volvo bus, who were fast asleep, 16 suffered serious injuries. The injured were admitted to Dharmapuri GH.
The truck driver is at large.
Madhikonpalayam police are investigating.
