Two held, 15 kg ganja seized

Personnel attached to the Government Railway Police (GRP) – Jolarpet nabbed two men from Odisha and seized 15 kilos of ganja from them during the early hours of Tuesday.

Spotted at railway station

The police spotted Tahanga Kahandra (29) and Babul Kahandra (25) of Kandhamal, Odisha on one of the platforms at Jolarpet railway station at about 4.30 a.m.

Suspecting them the GRP personnel checked the duo's baggage. They found weigh 15 kilos of ganja in two bags – nine kg in one and six kg in another.

Police said they were about to board a train to Malur near Bengaluru. They were hired to transport the banned substance to Bengaluru. They said they were promised Rs. 3,000 per kilo. The Jolarpet GRP booked them under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
