2 more die at AIADMK poll meetings

A 55-year-old man who fainted before the beginning of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Jayalalithaa’s campaign meeting here and died on the way to hospital and while a 65-year-old man died of heart attack after the campaign in Magudanchavadi in Salem district on Wednesday.

S. Pachiannan (55) of Magudanchavadi, sitting in the scorching heat, fainted at 3.30 p.m.

He was taken to the Primary Health Centre in Magudanchavadi where doctors referred him to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. But he died on the way to hospital. However, police sources said Pachiannan was standing on an overbridge on Salem – Cochin National Highway when he slipped and fell into a gorge and died.

In another incident, R. Periyasamy (65) of Kadambur in Gangavalli taluk, suffered a heart attack and died in a bus while returning from the campaign meeting.

Ms. Jayalalithaa condoled the death of the party cadre.
