Tuticorin Chamber seeks flight services to Chennai, Coimbatore

To suit the needs of industrialists and business executives of the region

Tuticorin being a port city and a hub of industrial activities has all the potential to patronise new flight services.

With hectic activities of imports and exports through the logistic support of V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Tuticorin was catering to the needs of stakeholders relying on EXIM trade.

Hence, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tuticorin has submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of Air Pegasus Private Limited seeking to introduce a flight service to Chennai and to Coimbatore, which is known as the Manchester of South India, from Tuticorin and vice-versa to suit the needs of industrialists and business executives, D.R. Kodeeswaran, secretary of the chamber said here on Saturday.

At the moment, several acres of land were being acquired to expand the Tuticorin airport.

Once this process was over, the airport would be modernised with extended runway to accommodate bigger aircrafts, he said.
