Training programme for SFI members begins in Namakkal

The four-day state level training programme for the members of the Students Federation of India (SFI) organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) commenced at the party office in the town on Wednesday.

More than 150 student members of the SFI, including girls, are participating in this event. P. Uchimagali, state president of the SFI, J. Rajmohan, its state secretary and Kannan, state deputy secretary, spoke at the inaugural session. At the sessions that followed G. Selvan, executive member of the South Chennai unit of the CPI (M) spoke on the topic ‘principles of Communism’, and N. Gunasekaran, state executive committee member, spoke on ‘Marxism’.

A.Packiam, secretary of the South Chennai district unit of the party and Aadavan Dikshanyan of the Progressive Writers and Artistes Association, handled the sessions on ‘present day political scenario’ and ‘what is culture?’ on Thursday.
