Traffic islands in Perundurai Town Panchayat are being given a facelift.

Recently, a neatly landscaped traffic island near the old bus stand was inaugurated by Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam who represents the Perundurai constituency.

The cost was sponsored by Nandha Group of Institutions. Educational institutions have been roped in by the Perundurai Town Panchayat for development of maintenance of the traffic island near Government Hospital.

While the Kongu Engineering College has sponsored the cost, the maintenance is being carried out by The Unique Academy.

A traffic island near the police station is poised to undergo beautification soon, official sources said.

Sponsors

After the roundana is constructed by the Highways Department, sponsors would be identified for its beautification with greenery, lighting and fountains, the sources said.

Likewise, the traffic island near Anna Statue along Bhavani Road will also been given a facelift.
