The traders affiliated to the Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders Associations will observe a black day in Tiruchi city on April 12 to protest against the action initiated against the traders carrying money for their business purpose citing the model code of conduct.

A.M. Vikirama Raja, president of the Federation, told reporters here on Friday that the poll officials were repeatedly harassing the traders and farmers in the guise of inspection to check the transportation of money. The traders will stage agitation in Tiruchi city on that day.

He said that the Federation has already demanded that the traders should be allowed to carry Rs. Three lakh without any documents.

The PAN card, municipal permit and the identity provided by the traders association should be considered as document to substantiate the claim for the money being carried by them.

Mr. Vikirama Raja said that DMK and the PMK have got the demands of the traders with an assurance that they will be incorporated in their poll manifesto. The Federation will announce its support to one of these two parties which come forward to incorporate the demands of the traders in their election manifesto.

Earlier, Mr. Vikirama Raja participated in a meeting of the office-bearers of the Salem district unit of the Federation.
