An all-party meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu government to discuss the future course of action on the recent judgment of the Supreme Court in the Cauvery water dispute with Karnataka, commenced at the Secretariat in Fort St. George campus here on Thursday morning.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami is chairing the meeting in which representatives of about 35 political parties including M.K. Stalin, working president of the DMK, and 14 farmers’ associations are taking part.
Three Ministers from Cauvery delta region — R. Kamaraj, O.S. Manian and R. Doraikkannu -- welcomed the leaders of all parties who arrived in Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai building for the meeting.
The DMK was represented by Mr. Stalin and Durai Murugan.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Su. Thirunavukkarasar, Congress Legislature Party leader MLA K. Ramasamy, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundarajan were among those from the national parties at the meeting, which is expected to go on till evening.
The apex court in its verdict had reduced the water share for Tamil Nadu by about 14 TMC ft but upheld the Tribunal order for constituting the Cauvery Management Board.
