Two young textile entrepreneurs in Tirupur knitwear cluster, Shrei Ganesh (32) and C. Yuvaraj (34), are elated not because of any extraordinary achievements attained in the business rather due to the successes that came with their cycling skills.

Of them, Shrei Ganesh (32), an apparel exporter, has just attained the much-difficult ‘Super Randonneur’ title by successfully completing the four classes of rallies nominated by the Audax Club Parisen, an international body that sanctions authority for such cycling events, within the stipulated hours, in a calendar year (i.e. 2015).

“Getting the ‘Super Randonneur’ title with the completion of 200km, 300km, 400km, and 600km rallies conducted by Audax India Randonneur, affiliated to Audax Club Parisen, is a passport to take part in the prestigious tour-de-France cycle rally and I am eagerly looking forward to take part later in the year,” Mr. Shrei Ganesh told The Hindu.

For Mr. Yuvaraj, the ‘Super Randonneur’ title is just one shot away as he had completed 200km, 300km and 600km.

“Now I have just 400km rally left which was planned to be completed in quick time,” said Mr. Yuvaraj, who recently completed the 600km stretch from Chennai to Samayapuram near Tiruchi and back, with Mr. Shrei Ganesh.

Both Mr. Ganesh and Mr. Yuvaraj was preparing for almost three months ahead of the cycling events that began in January for the current calendar year, to weave the successes.

Mr. Ganesh attributed the achievement of the ‘Super Randonneur’ title to the daily practice riding he took out for about 80km in different terrains for those three months. “Of course, I will have to work harder before heading for Paris,” he said.
