Tiruchi N. Siva of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was among the three persons who filed nomination papers for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, the inaugural day of submitting the papers.
Accompanied by his party leaders, including M.K. Stalin and Durai Murugan, the 59-year-old candidate, who represented the now-abolished Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency during 1996-1998 and was a member of the Upper House in two spells (2000-2002 and 2007-2013), handed over the papers to Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer for the elections, A.M.P. Jamaludeen. Among the other two candidates who filed the nominations was K. Padmarajan of Mettur, Salem district. This was the 157th time that Mr Padmarajan filed the nomination for an elected post.
