Three poachers arrested, crude bombs seized near Thalavadi

Officials of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Erode district on Saturday seized 92 crude bombs, meant for killing wild boars, and arrested three poachers near Thalavadi in the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border.

According to official sources, the poachers, who were travelling on a two-wheeler in Arukkalwadi village near Thalavadi, were spotted during a check in the morning.

Cases were filed against the arrested persons under Section 9 (No person shall hunt any wild animal specified in Schedules I, II, III and IV) and Section 32 Ban on use of injurious substances (No person shall use in a sanctuary, chemicals, explosives or any other substances which may cause injury to or endanger, any wildlife in a sanctuary) of Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The police would also file cases under the Arms Act.
