June 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:17 pm IST - Bengaluru:

Three minor boys, including two brothers, drowned while trying to swim in Amruthahalli lake on Sunday.

The police identified the deceased as Aditya Raj (12), a class 8 student and son of Madhav Raj, a driver, and Ravi (11) and Naveen (13), both children of Nagesh, a mason.

The three boys were residents of Amruthahalli.

The police said the incident took place around 1 p.m. when the trio went to swim in the lake without informing their parents. The incident came to light around 2.30 p.m. when passersby noticed the bodies of Ravi and Aditya floating.

The police, along with Fire and Emergency Services personnel, recovered the three bodies.

The water level in the lake had gone up after the recent spells of rain. The Bangalore Development Authority is developing a park in the vicinity.

“Today being Sunday, there was no construction in the area. Otherwise, the tragedy could have been averted,” a senior police officer said.
