Three killed in Virudhunagar road accident

Three women tourists were killed and 10 others were injured when the van in which they were travelling dashed against a road-side tree on the Aruppukottai-Sayalgudi highway in M. Reddiyapatti village of the Virudhunagar district in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased were identified as T. Saraladevi (48), Headmistress of a panchayat union school in Poomavilangai in Ramanathapuram district, her mother T. Muthunachi (64) and another woman, M. Kasiammal (68).

The accident occured at Othakadai around 3.45 a.m. when they were returning home to Kamudi from Courtallam.

The injured were given first-aid at Aruppukottai government hospital and were later referred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, the police said.

M. Reddiyapatti police are investigating.the case.
