Three people were injured in a multiple collision accident on Grand Southern Trunk Road at Nandivaram-Guduvancheri on Monday morning.

The accident crippled traffic on the national highway (NH 45) as vehicles proceeding to Chennai began moving on the wrong lane.

Police said the incident took place around 5.30 a.m. when a Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus to Tambaram from Chengalpattu halted on the carriageway to pick up passengers.

A car that was travelling behind tried to overtake the bus and at the same time, a mini-goods carrier proceeding in the same direction, hit the car on its side and proceeded to ram the bus.

In the impact, the mini-lorry’s attender Jayaram was caught in the mangled front portion of the lorry and had to be pulled out by firemen and police.
