March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - KRISHNAGIRI:

Three persons, including the daughter-in-law of the victim, were arrested after a farmer was set ablaze by assailants, while he was asleep in Shoolagiri, on Thursday. The victim Venkatesappa (60) succumbed to burns after two assailants barged into his house, while he was sleeping and poured petrol and set him ablaze. The men also set a two-wheeler on fire and escaped. Police probe led to the victim’s daughter-in-law Saraswathi, who was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Yuvaraj, one of the assailants.

According to the police, Yuvaraj along with Chandran attacked Venkatesappa at the behest of Saraswathi. After day-long interrogation, late Friday evening, police arrested all three.
