Three boys drowned in a pond at Thiruvadhigai near Panruti on Monday. The deceased were identified as Divakaran,15, and Hari, 15, of Panruti and Logesh,14, of Vazhapattu.
According to police, the boys went to bathe in the pond located at Thiruadhigai at 2 p.m.
They ventured into a deeper part of the pond and drowned. Police said that none of them knew how to swim.
When they did not return home after some time, their parents and villagers launched a search and found their clothes near the pond. Fire and Rescue Services personnel conducted a search and fished out the bodies.
A case has been registered and inquiries are on.
