Thangapandian assumes charge as NLC director

V.Thangapandian, former group general manager, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has assumed office as Director (Power) of NLC on Tuesday.

V. Thangapandian, a native of Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu has graduated in mechanical engineering from Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi under Madurai Kamaraj University in July 1981. He joined as the sixth batch executive trainee in NTPC.

Mr. Thangapandian, with 34 years of experience in various capacities in the areas of erection, commissioning and operation and maintenance of power plants, has been associated with NTPC’s Ramagundam Project, Vindyachal and Mouda Super Thermal Power projects.

He is also credited with commissioning the 2X500 MW units NTPC-Mouda while heading the project.

During his tenure as head of the project at NTPC-Mouda (Nagpur), he developed expertise in greenfield projects, from concept to commissioning – something the NLC expects to draw upon as it seeks to expand its projects with 660 MW units across India.
