Students will receive the books after schools re-open

The work of distribution of free textbooks meant for the students of class X and XII published by the Tamil Nadu Text Books Society has been completed in the district.

The books are being distributed to 330 Government, Government Welfare, Government aided and private schools in Salem revenue district comprising Salem and Sankagiri education districts.

While Salem education district accounted for 196 schools, Sankagiri education district accounted for 134 schools.

The Class XII books brought from Chennai were stocked in the Government Higher Secondary School, Mallur and the books for class X at Government HSS, Omalur.

The District Education Officers R. Indira Gandhi (Sankagiri) and Ramalingam (Salem) monitored the distribution works in their respective districts and the same was completed on Saturday.

Education Department sources said that the head masters of the schools or the teachers authorised by them collected the books meant for their respective schools from these centres.

The books will be distributed to the students after the reopening of the schools, the sources said.
