The Madras High Court on Friday restrained the Tasmac authorities from opening an outlet adjacent to schools and church located in Red Hills on the city’s outskirts.

Passing the interim order on a public interest litigation filed by A. Liyahath Ali of Red Hills, a Vacation Bench, comprising Justices T. Mathivanan and K.B.K. Vasuki directed the authorities of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (Tasmac) not to open the outlet and bar near NMS complex for two weeks.

In the petition, Mr. Liyahath said a centre for special children, dance school and a music centre were also functioning in the complex.
