‘Tamil Nadu tops in enrolment of students in higher education’

Encouraging students through various welfare schemes at school-level was the main reason for higher rate of enrolment of students, Mr. Palaniappan said.

Tamil Nadu tops the country in enrolment of students in higher education, according to P. Palaniappan, Higher Education Minister.

Distributing free bicycles and laptops to the students at the Government Higher Secondary School at Uthangarai, he said the enrolment of students in higher education was 32.02 per cent against the national percentage of 20.

Encouraging students through various welfare schemes at school-level was the main reason for higher rate of enrolment of students, Mr. Palaniappan said.

Over 2400 students from 10 schools were given free bicycles and Laptops were distributed to 72 students from Government Polytechnic at a function held in Uthangarai Government Higher Secondary School.

Collector T.P. Rajesh presided.
