The days of AIADMK rule in Tamil Nadu are numbered as people are yearning for change, DMK Rajya Sabha MP and party Women’s wing secretary Kanimozhi said on Saturday.

Addressing a demonstration organised by the Coimbatore and Tirupur Units of the party seeking total prohibition, here, Ms. Kanimozhi said the people gathered in large numbers was a clear indication that they wanted to install a DMK government in the state in the coming assembly polls.

She said chief minister Jayalalithaa was claiming that election promises were fulfilled but the truth was that no schemes like old age pension and marriage assistance were reaching the people properly.

She alleged that law and order situation in the state had deteriorated.

On the issue of prohibition, she said all liquor shops would be closed once DMK returned to power in the state.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Kanimozhi said DMK chief M. Karunanidhi has already announced that implementing prohibition will be DMK’s first priority on assuming power.

On alliance for the polls, she said Mr. Karunanidhi will decide and announce it at the right time.
