Tamil journalist returns home

Tamil Prabakaran, a journalist from Tamil Nadu who was detained by Sri Lankan Authorities on Wednesday last was deported on Saturday.

He arrived at the Chennai airport in the evening.

Talking to journalists at the airport, Mr. Prabakaran said he was subjected to torture by the Terrorist Investigation Department of Sri Lanka.

Talking about the allegations against him that he had photographed military area, Mr.Prabakaran said he did not capture any military area instead he photographed only some function.

The Terrorist Investigation Department repeatedly subjected him to interrogations.

During the interrogation he was handcuffed.

He said that he took photographs only in the presence of officials from Sri Lanka, but was later arrested over the issue.
