‘Take action against persons publishing poll surveys’

May 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - Tirupur:

CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan demanded action against persons who publish biased pre-poll surveys in favour of certain political parties/alliances and thereby, mislead the voters in general on the election trends.

He cited the examples of two sets of surveys that had vastly contradictory results and got published in some news channels and news papers.

“We feel that election officials in the State have been functioning in a biased manner not only because of the inaction in such pre-poll survey matters but also because of the dubious handling of various other issues like seizure of huge cash from the house of P. Anbunathan, a Karur-based businessman,” he told reporters here on Thursday.

He alleged that flying squad officials had disclosed only a miniscule portion of the cash seized from Anbunathan’s house.
