The headmistress and noon meal organizer at Panchayat Union Elementary School in Srinivasampalayam in Tiruchengode Union were placed under suspension for dereliction of duty here on Tuesday.
Recently, two children after consuming noon meal complained of giddiness and were admitted to the hospital. A team conducted inquiries and found both suffering from fever from the previous day and noted that they did not undergo treatment. Also, they did not take breakfast on the particular day and developed giddiness. But the headmistress M. Kalaiselvi and noon meal organizer L. Valarmathi provided wrong information that tarnishes the name and reputation of the government school. Based on directions from the collector, District Elementary Officer J. Babu placed the headmistress under suspension while Tiruchengode Panchayat Union Commissioner S. Tamilselvi placed the noon-meal organizer under suspension.
