A bouquet of popular channels from the Sun TV Network will shortly be available to subscribers of the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV).
On Monday, the Corporation intimated its decision in writing to the Sun TV Network, which, in turn, gave its nod.
The final round of negotiations between the two sides was concluded on Thursday last, according an official source.
The TACTV Corporation will pay Rs. three crore per year to the Sun TV Network.
At present, it is providing the cable TV services in the State, excluding Chennai, with 100 channels, which includes free-to-air Channels, pay channels and private local channels.
As of now, the Corporation has a tie-up with 111 pay channels, apart from 50 free-to-air channels. The subscriber base is 55 lakhs. On September 2, Chief Minister Jayalailthaa launched the cable TV service of the Corporation all over Tamil Nadu (except Chennai) by switching on the Head End at Vellore through videoconferencing.
The Corporation is also taking steps to launch its services in the Chennai Metropolitan Area in digital mode, adds the official.
