The Principal Sessions Court in Chennai on Thursday issued summons to DMDK leader Vijayakanth’s wife, Premalatha, who is chairman of Captain TV, and L.K. Sudhish, its managing director, for their appearance before it in connection with a defamation complaint filed by the State Government.

The complaint alleged that they were responsible for telecast of a news item through Captain TV that criticised Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a derogatory manner last February.

The court also summoned three news readers who were also cited in the case to appear on September 9.
